AIIMS OF INDIA

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is an autonomous education institution offering higher education in medicine. There are seven All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in the country that are currently running and seven more are proposed to be established. AIIMS was set up as an institution of national importance by the Act of Parliament. The first AIIMS was established in 1956 in New Delhi. It was established with an objective to develop certain patterns of teaching in undergraduate and post-graduate medical to prove a high standard of medical education in the country.

AIIMS teaches as many as 42 disciplines. The different courses offered by AIIMS are mentioned below:

Admission Process

AIIMS conducts separate entrance examinations for all its courses.

Candidates have to fill an application form along with the prescribed fees.

Candidates have to appear for the entrance examination.

Candidates are then selected on the basis of merit and counselling and then are given admissions.

The number of examination centres and the courses offered also vary depending upon the AIIMS centres.

Candidates are allowed to submit separate application for different post-graduate courses like M.Sc. and M. Biotechnology.

Foreign nationals are only admitted in AIIMS that is situated in New Delhi.

Eligibility

A candidate has to fulfill certain criteria to be eligible to appear in the entrance examination.

Some courses demand that the candidate has to be an Indian national.

He/She must have attained the age of 17 years to appear in MBBS or any other undergraduate examination.

He/She must have scored certain percentage of marks in different courses. There are different percentages required in different courses.

In some courses, candidates only from particular educational background are eligible to appear in the examination. For instance, for appearing in the MBBS examination, a candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 10+2.

Fees
The fees for the courses offered in AIIMS vary depending upon different courses and centres. Students can also avail the facility of hostels by paying separate fees for the same.
